Orioles fly past Nationals, 1-0

Briar Kirby scored in the bottom of the fifth inning Friday, giving the Orioles the boost they needed to take the Dixie Youth win over the Nationals, 1-0.

Jeffrey Fuller was the leading hitter for the Orioles (3-3_, going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.

For the Nationals (3-3), six batters reached base, although no one got a hit.

The Orioles will return to action Friday as they take on the Rangers at 6 p.m. The Nationals will take on the Royals at 7:30 p.m.

Royals 6, Rangers 2

Dustin Moorhead was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored Friday as the Royals held off the Rangers, 6-2.

Offensively for the Royals (2-4), Roscoe Moorhead was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored, John Dunn was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, Ben Presley was 1-for-3, Forest Luker was 1-for-1 and Ryan Taylor and Brandon Girlie each scored a run.

For the Rangers, Wilson Lowe, Chip Taylor, Chase Whiddon, Michael Meyers and Michael Smith each scattered a hit while Wesley Scott and Taylor each scored a run.

The Royals will return to action Friday as they take on the Nationals at 7:30 p.m. The Rangers will take on the Orioles at 6 p.m.
