Reggie Mantooth's varsity basketball teams experienced two different set of emotions Friday night as the boys had their season come to end at the hands of Hooper Academy and the girls moved one step closer to being both the regular season area champs and the area tournament champions.

In the girl's game, it was No. 2 Fort Dale early and often as the Eagle offense put up 60 points on Taylor Road and also held the Lady Tigers to just three points in the first half to take the win by 50 points, 62-12.

The Eagles held the Tigers to just three points in the first period and then Fort Dale turned around and held Taylor Road scoreless in the second period to take a 36-3 lead into the half.

In the second half, it was all Fort Dale's defense again as the Eagles held the Tigers to just five points in the third period and four in the final period.

Morgan Pouncey set the pace for Fort Dale with 11 points, six rebounds and four rebounds.

Pouncey was followed by Michelle Hulick with eight points and 10 rebounds, Ulli Sandstrom with eight points, Jennifer Pouncey with five points, Casey Hicks, Haley Stinson, Tiffany Simms and Abbey Martin each with four points and Skylar Sherrell with three points.

Twelve players scored for the Lady Eagles.

With the win, the No. 2 Fort Dale Eagles advance to the tournament championship game. Tip off is at 1 p.m.

In the boy's game, the Hooper Colts, who trailed for nearly the entire game, took the lead with six minutes remaining in the game and held onto that lead for good to advance to the championship game by defeating the Eagles, 40-38.

Junior Davis Watts was the game's leading scorer with 17 points. Fellow junior Bobby Martin had eight points and seven rebounds for the Eagles, followed by Kendall Gibson with six points, Cory Causey with four points and Ty Newton with three points.

For the Colts, Thomas Faulkner was the leading scorer with 11 points while teammate Ryan Bozeman contributed 10 points in the win.
