n Board of Education Meeting

The Butler County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on Thursday, August 3 at 7 p.m. at the Butler County Board of Education Central Office Boardroom located at 215 Administrative Drive, Greenville, AL.

n American Legion meeting

The American Legion Post 24 Greenville, Alabama will meet again at 1900 hours Thursday, 3 August, 2006 in the Legion Hall. We meet the first Thursday of each month. Come and bring a prospective member with you. Contact Gene Autrey at (334) 382-5365 for more info.

n Pancake Breakfast

McKenzie Lodge 701 will have a Pancake Breakfast on August 5. The breakfast will include pancakes, link sausage, and coffee, only $3 a plate. The lodge is located across from the Busy Bee. For more information contact Larry Smith at 374-8095 or Mickeal Rodgers at 374-9945.

n Homecoming and Revival

East Greenville Baptist Church celebrates its Homecoming on August 6. At 11 a.m. a special morning service is planned. Pastor Tim Patton of First Baptist Church will speak and special music is planned. Dinner on the grounds to follow.

Revival services continue with Rev. Patton Aug. 7-9 with services at 7 p.m. nightly. Special music and choir singing each night. Everyone is invited.

n Roberts/Brittingham Reunion

The Roberts/Brittingham Reunion is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat. Aug. 6 at the Greenville Boys and Girls Club (old Beeland Park). Please bring photos. For more information, contact Oma Baker at (334) 335-5192.

n Hickory Grove Family and Friends Day

Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Georgiana, Rev. Jerome L. Milton Sr., pastor, will host a Family and Friends Day August 13, 2006. Rev. Harold Daniels, pastor of The New Beginning Full Gospel Church in Greenville will be the afternoon speaker at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

n Forest Home Homecoming/Revival

Forest Home Baptist Church will host homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow and evening services starting at 6 p.m. Revival will be held the following week, Monday through Wednesday with services starting at 6:45 p.m., the Rev. ‘Nap' Granade – speaker. There will be special music for each service and all are invited to attend.

The Butler County Board of Education will conduct its' next regular meeting on Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at the Butler County Board of Education Central Office Boardroom located at 215 Administrative Drive, Greenville, AL.

n Cemetery Association Meeting

A meeting of the Concord Cemetery Memorial Association is set for Saturday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Church. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend and bring a picnic lunch.

After lunch, everyone is invited to tour the cemetery and help in clean-up work. Wear suitable clothing and walking shoes.

Tabernacle Church is located on the Old Federal Road and can be reached from Interstate 65 via the Tyson Exit (drive over the freeway and head East if coming southbound), go down Cloverfield Road (SH 24), turn right on the Old Federal Road and in about two miles, you'll see Tabernacle Church on the right.

n Fall Community Classes

The following community classes will be offered in September at the Butler County Education and Community Learning Center on School Highlands Road: Beginning Computer, Cake Decorating, CPR Certification, Beginning Smocking, Floral Design. Deadline for registration for Sept. classes is August 25. n Family Day Care Classes

n Community Prayer Breakfast

A community prayer breakfast is held the first Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m. inn the Priester's Pecans dining area. Special guests share a variety of Christian topics each month. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring a friend. Call 334-391-0351 for more information.

n Butler County Chess Club

The Greenville Chess Club meets on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Butler Baptist Associational Office, 309 South Pine Street.

Local chess players or those who would like to learn how to play are welcome.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century After School Program

The Butler County School System will offer after school programs for K-8th grade students beginning August 14. Programs are available Mondays – Fridays through 5 p.m. for $25 per month at each of the following schools:

W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, Greenville Middle, R.L. Austin, and Georgiana High (7th & 8th grades). Registration is available at the school offices, at the Education & Community Center, and at www.butlerco.k12.al.us

n GHS Child Care

Greenville High School Child Care is accepting applications for the 3- to 4-year-old daycare program for 2006-2007 school year.

n Greenville Lions Club

The Greenville Lions Club meets every Monday at the Boys & Girls Club at noon.
