While the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life for Butler County remembers those who have lost the battle with cancer, it also celebrates those who are winning the fight.

This Friday, May 5, survivors and their caregivers will gather for the annual Survivors Luncheon held at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Greenville.

The event, hosted by Priester's Pecans, will kick off at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Those receiving invitations to the event will not only enjoy a delicious lunch, they will also be entertained by Harlan Burton. Burton is a familiar face to many in the area, luncheon co-organizer Vivian Killingsworth said.

&#8220Harlan is a cancer survivor who has entertained folks all over the United States, including the senior citizens in our area at Christmastime.

&#8220He'll be performing gospel songs and, we hope, a few western songs to go with this year's Western theme for Relay.”

During Friday's luncheon, cancer survivors will also receive fun door prizes and special parking permits for the night of Relay.

&#8220This is our chance to make our survivors and their caregivers feel like real VIPs. We are looking forward to a great day,” Killingsworth said.

The Butler County Relay for Life is slated from 6 p.m. May 12 to 6 a.m. May 13 at its new location, the Greenville YMCA. For more information, contact Relay For Life Chair Joan Reynolds at 382-2696.
