First Assembly of God in Greenville wants local youngsters ages 5-12 to kick off the new school year right.
The church is sponsoring a &uot;Back to School Extravaganza&uot; at 6 p.m. Sunday night, August 14 at the church’s N. Conecuh St. location.
Mike Henson and Friends will bring a puppet show to the event, singing and performing various skits with his puppet pals.
&uot;Mike is very entertaining and he does a great job of reaching out to children and sharing the Good News,&uot; Lane Simmons, pastor of First Assembly, says.
After Henson’s show, church members will be passing out back-to-school supplies, including paper, pencils, crayons and glue, to the first 500 children. There will also be a drawing for backpacks.
&uot;We are inviting the whole surrounding community to come and join us. We want them to know we care about the kids and youth of this area,&uot; Simmons said.
