&uot;We are working on bringing the popular bluegrass gospel band, ‘Southern Comfort,’ to Jubilee this year, along with vocalists Randy Tenney, from Monroeville, and Holley Matthews of Greenville,&uot; Phillips said.

She added they also hope to bring the talents of the GHS Step Team and the FDA Dance Team to the Watermelon Jubilee entertainment lineup.

Rest assured: the popular seed-spitting contest of Jubilees past will return to this year’s event.

&uot;We are also still lining up vendors; they are signing up every day,&uot; Phillips said.

Concessions will be available during the event, which will also offer plenty of ripe, juicy melons to sample.

A colorful king-size watermelon quilt is

currently on display in the front lobby of the Y. Raffle tickets are currently being sold for $1 each, with the quilt to be given away at the close of Watermelon Jubilee.

&uot;We invite everyone to come out and join us next month at the Jubilee,&uot; Phillips said.
