Mrs. Brooks Columbus Barganier III, of Fort Deposit, Alabama, announces the engagement of her daughter, Joy Elizabeth Barganier, to Marcus Cale Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Claude Smith Jr. of Morehead City, North Carolina.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Brooks Columbus Barganier III and the late Mr. Brooks Columbus Barganier III.

She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Kenneth Cumbie and the late Mr. Kenneth Cumbie of Greenville, Alabama and Mrs. Wilma Taylor Babbitt of Greenville, Alabama.

The prospective Groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thomas Cale of Tarboro, North Carolina, and the late Mrs. Dorothy McRainey Smith of Tarboro, North Carolina.

Miss Barganier graduated Magna Cum Laude from Auburn University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science.

At Auburn she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity.

She is currently attending the University of Alabama School of Law and will receive her Juris Doctor degree in May of 2006.

Mr. Smith graduated from Auburn University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree.

Mr. Smith was the president of Kappa Alpha Order at Auburn.

He is a civil engineer with U. S. Infrastructure in Birmingham.

The couple will be married on August 6, 2005 at the home of the Bride-elect in Greenville.
