Greenville loses another familiar face

The Tom Thumb Store, located on Fort Dale Road, closed its doors to customers this past Thursday, July 7.
According to store manager Jacque Lewis, the lease has expired on the building, and the owners decided that it would cost too much to remodel the current location.
"This store needs to be upgraded in many ways, and it needs new gas pumps installed.
This is not Tom Thumb's building or land.
Since the owners concluded that all of these upgrades would cost too much, the company decided to close the doors," Lewis said.
"I don't know what they're going to do with this building, but it is possible that Tom Thumb is looking for other land in Greenville on which to build a new store."
"This particular location has four full-time employees.
We have been told that we have the options to transfer to the Luverne or Brewton stores, since those are the closest Tom Thumb locations," Lewis explained.
"In the meantime, it looks like Greenville has another empty building near the interstate."
