Just where do you want to go today?

Summertime for many people is vacation time, an opportunity to get away from the everyday routine. Some of us hustle and bustle, anxious to wrench every last drop out of our time off, while others prefer to hit the hammock with a cold drink, a good read, and a good, long nap to follow.

Some enjoy faraway, exotic locales, while others are pretty happy sticking close to home.

I enjoy traveling, though I don’t always get to do it as much as I would like to. And I love hearing other people’s travel stories.

I asked some folks this question: if you were given the opportunity to go anywhere in the world this summer, where would you go?

Here are their answers.

n &uot;It would be a return trip to Ireland, with a cooler climate in July and August to look forward to.&uot; – Annabel Markle

n &uot;I would love to go to the mountains, or spend a week on one of Alabama’s beautiful lakes.&uot; – Sherry Henderson

n &uot;If I could go anywhere this summer, it would be where I’m going – to a Stevie Nicks concert!&uot; – Erica Knight

n &uot;I would enjoy taking an Alaskan cruise. Getting a break from the heat and humidity would be nice this time of year.&uot; – Joanne Schrantz

n &uot;Novia Scotia, to get cool.&uot; – Roberta Gamble

n &uot;I would really love to go to Sanibel-Captiva Islands and go shelling. That has been a desire for many years.&uot; – Brenda Bryan

n &uot;The only other place I would like to go back to is England. I lived there from 1976 to 1979, and loved it almost as much as Alabama. I’d like to see it again before I die…but England is best in the spring.&uot; – Ramona Martin

Sometimes, folks just want to relive favorite memories of the past as they take a &uot;sentimental journey.&uot;

n &uot;I close my eyes and remember the good times I spent with my friends at Ft. Walton Beach. The smell of the salt water, the sounds of the waves, scrunching my toes deep in the white, sandy beaches, the sea gulls overhead – as I get older, I sometimes wish to relive the days of my youth.&uot; – Alice Dartt

n &uot;If I could go anywhere this summer, it would be back to Georgiana, 1965, on the porch of the house I grew up in, right at sunset, with my mother, grandmother (Mimi) and great-grandmother (Mama), after a day of making forts, and riding my bike everywhere. I’d be lulled to sleep in one of their laps by the rocking of the porch swing, the scent of baby powder, and the cadence of peas being shelled, and well-loved stories being told by another generation.&uot; – Ralph Stacy

And where you would go this summer?
