hurricane season
If the predictions come to fruition, it will be another active hurricane season on our our side of the country. We know it’s still May and you don’t really want to think about hurricanes, but now is the time to do so. Why should we wait until a day or two before a storm is barreling up through the Gulf of Mexico before we buy supplies such as flashlights, batteries and bottled water? These items can be purchased now and stored safely away.
We were lucky last year that no one died in Ivan, but we can’t say that the luck will hold. Some things got back to normal quickly, while others remain far from that.
You can’t stop a hurricane, but you can prepare for it. Our communities proved that we don’t have to wait on a state or national agency to bring help, we provide for our own.
So, just in case one of Ivan’s little brothers or sisters decide to jaunt through here later this summer and fall. Let’s make sure we all have our hurricane plans in good order.
