Friday and Saturday night, the Tom Harbin Farm Center will welcome top wranglers from around Alabama and the Southeast for the 18th Annual Crenshaw County Rodeo.

Wayne Rolling, a member of the Kiwanis Rodeo Committee, said a full slate of activities and excitement is on tap for this weekend.

"There will be rodeo events each night and they'll all conclude with everyone's favorite, 'bull riding'" said Rolling. "In between we'll have mutton bustin' and a cake scramble for the youngsters."

Rolling said children 12 and under will be admitted for free again this year, if wearing a team jersey or a T-shirt from one of the previous rodeos. They must, however, be accompanied by a paying adult. The street dance has been moved to Saturday night at the pavilion outside of the rodeo arena. The Kandu Band is back to provide the music.

Advance rodeo tickets can be picked up at First Citizens Bank, Luverne Hardware, State Farm Insurance or from any member of the Luverne Kiwanis Club. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children, 12 and under. Souvenir rodeo shirts are also on sale for $10 and may be purchased at the First Citizens Bank, said Rolling.
