A second-place finish was enough for Brandy Thaggard to overtake Ryan Piggott and
claim the points lead in the Hogg front-wheel drive division Saturday at the Butler County dirt track.
Thaggard finished second to Carey Stallworth in the feature race, but she now holds a one-point lead over Piggott with 22 points.
Suki Durbin finished third.
Thaggard was the only driver to gain ground on any points leader, while the four other points leaders extended their leads.
Jim Till won the heat and the feature race in the Late Model division, but still could not overcome William Smith's lead. Till trails Smith, who finished third in the feature, by four points. Scott Meyers finished second.
Randy Adams was the feature race winner in the Super Hobbie division to keep a seven-point cushion in the points race.
Curt Ryals, who finished third in the feature race, remains second in the standings.
Arthur Sawyer and Rusty Salter won their respective heats, while Charles Davis finished second in the feature race.
Bo Jordan continues to outdistance himself from the rest of the pack in the Pure Stock Hogg rear-wheel drive division. Jordan picked up 13 more points Saturday to take a commanding lead in the points race. Jordan now has 54 points, while Bill Conway is a distant second with 36 points.
Jordan picked up the points by winning a heat and finishing second in the feature race.
Robert Hutson III won the feature race, while Conway won the first heat.
Steven Adams finished third in the feature.
Gerald Brown is creeping up on the tails of Jimmy Johnson and points leader Will Henderson in the Street Stock novice division. Brown won his heat and won the feature race to climb into third place in the points race. He now trails Henderson by 13 points.
Brian Scurlock won his heat and finished second in the feature, while Steven McDonald finished third in the feature.
Racing will continue Saturday with the gates opening at 4 p.m. There will be kiddie rides at the track this week, and racing will begin at 7 p.m.
