Recipients must be Greenville High School female graduates who plan to attend LBWCC, either at the Greenville or Andalusia branch. The $2,000 in scholarship monies are put towards the student’s tuition and book costs.

&uot;The award may be renewed for a second year if the students have made progress and show a good scholarly ethic. We don’t base it strictly on grades,&uot; said Winkler, who is the administrator of the scholarship.

This is the 15th year the award has been given. The first award went to Tracy Scott in 1991.

&uot;The scholarship was begun in honor of August and Ida Winkler by their daughter Elsie Troy,&uot; said Winkler.

&uot;The goal of the award is to annually encourage and enable a Greenville High School graduating woman to continue her education. We hope through offering this scholarship the recipient will develop self pride and pride in Butler County.&uot;
