An international network of caring, Christian women have established a local lighthouse ministry for all women of all ages and all denominations in Butler County. Our renewal meeting are designed to provide women with supportive friends, caring hearts, listening ears and a sense of belonging. The next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Georgiana Community Center. These meetings have been changed from the Georgiana Senior Center to the Georgiana Community Center. Nov. 5

There will be an organizational meeting for a support group for Christian homeschooling families in the Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes County areas. The meeting will be held at Spring Creek Baptist Church on Friday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m.

All interested families are encouraged to attend.

Nov. 6

Due to Hurricane Ivan the Butler County Sheriff’s Auxilary has extended their drawing for the gold replica coin to Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.

The Fall Festival at West Highland Assembly of God Church will be held Nov. 6, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be vendors with arts and crafts, jewelry, games and much more. A yard sale will be at 7 a.m. and a singing at 10 a.m. There will be an auction at 1 p.m. Hamburgers, funnel cakes and sausage dogs will also be served.

The Dan River Family Reunion will be held Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. at Beeland Park. Bring a basket lunch and be ready to enjoy the day.

Missionary Church will hold it’s annual Women's Day Program Nov.7, at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Sweet Potato Festival will be held at the Butler County Fair Grounds Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Featured attractions include rides for children, a space walk and party train. Greenville Prayer Warriors and the Saint Paul Church family will hold a weekend prayer retreat Nov. 6, 7.

Troy University's Department of Development will hold its fourth annual Holiday Fair on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12-13, on the Shackelford Quad.

Nov. 13

The Miss Teen Trojan pageant, a Miss Teen Alabama America preliminary, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Troy

University. The pageant will be held in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.

Volunteers are needed to pack boxes for the Operation Christmas Child shoe box ministry at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center from Nov.15-20. Hours are 1-5 p.m. Mon. thru Fri. and 9 a.m. – noon Saturday. Strong workers and good-sized trucks are also needed to pack for shipment to Montgomery on Sun., Nov. 21. Nov. 14

Saint Francis Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 106th church anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Robert White, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.

The County Line Church of Christ will hold a gospel meeting Nov. 14 through 17. Bro. Don Myers, minister of Salem Church of Christ, will be the guest speaker. There will be a covered dish lunch following the Sunday services.

The Greenville Area Fine Arts League (GAFAL) will be holding a special meeting at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Main Street building on Commerce St. This meeting will give local artists who have expressed interest in joining the organization a chance to meet with current members and learn more about the Fine Arts League.

Anyone interested in joining the GAFAL should come and join current GAFAL members at 2 p.m. on Nov. 14 downtown.
