YMCA soccer in full kick

Kids of all ages are having the opportunity to play YMCA sports.

The football program is currently having success with having an undefeated squad. But, last weekend, the YMCA soccer program got underway.

YMCA soccer has 10 teams in five age divisions and they all play on the soccer fields at the new Greenville Y.

In the 3-4 year old age group, Corstone took on Camellia Auto Parts.

Camellia had their opponents seeing red as they posted a 6-1 victory. Goals were scored by Keller Rodges, Blake Wade and Bailey Coker.

Each player contributed a pair of goals.

Corstone posted one goal, Hannah Schofield kept her team from being shutout.

In the 5-6 age group, Stabler Hospital took the field against R.E.F.

The squad from Stabler Hospital posted a 3-0 win over their opponents. Cody Parker contributed two goals. Matt Thomas Ackery closed the door on their opponents with a final goal of his own.

Moving up to 7-8 division, Benefit Planners picked up the 2-1 win over Camellia Communications. Jeffrey Fuller was too much for the Camellia defense, Fuller made his way down the field twice for two goals.

Camellia tried to make a comeback, but to no avail. Zachary Grider scored Camellia's

only goal.

Cole Collision defeated Lee Electric in the fourth game of the day by the score of 1-0. Clem Cole found his way to an open net before firing a shot to put his team ahead.

In the final game of the game of the day, the squad in red from Stabler Clinic posted a 1-0 win against K&D Snacks.

This is the second week of action for the YMCA soccer program. The teams have two weekends left.

Next weekend the squads will take to the field again.
