Gospel Singing

Glenwood Assembly of God will host a gospel singing at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Spoken For will be the guest gospel group.

Church Singing

Cameron Chapel Methodist Church will host a Gospel Singing Saturday night.

A covered dish dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The singing will begin promptly at 7 p.m. featuring The Bottle Creek Singers.

October 17

Revival Service

The Glenwood United Methodist Church will be having revival Oct. 17, 18, and 19 with services each night at 7 p.m.

Rev. Dr. Ed Glaize, senior minister of Tallassee First United Methodist Church, will bring the messages each night as well as devotionals Monday and Tuesday mornings at 7 a.m.

Rev. Bobby Weeks and the entire congregation invite you to join us in our revival services.

Church Homecoming

Friendship Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming Sunday.

Rev. Buford Brady will deliver the Homecoming message at 11 a.m. followed by lunch.

Revival will begin Oct. 18 and continue through Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. each night. Evangelist Shawn Bentley will be the guest speaker.

Pastor Harold Smith and the congregation invite all to attend.

Annual Church Singing

Darien Primitive Baptist Church on Patsburg Hwy. will hold its annual singing Sunday at the church.

The event will be held all day. Lunch will be served.

October 23

Fun & Safety Day

The Crenshaw County Kids and Kin will be holding its Fun and Safety Day from 1 p.m .until 3 p.m. on Oct. 23 at E.L. Turner Park 93 Ballpark Road in Luverne.

This is an event for all of our Childcare Partners and their children.

The City of Luverne will be providing Lt. Billings from the police department with a squad car and safety tips. The children will be able to check out the squad car and maybe even sound the siren. Fire Chief Bill McManigle will be bringing out a fire truck for the children to explore and provide fire safety tips.

Refreshments will be served sodas, chips, cookies as well as old fashion treats such caramel apples and popcorn balls.

Kids and Kin will be providing prizes both for the Child Care Providers and the children. Please allow the children to dress up in costumes. We will be giving out prizes for cutest, scariest, and most original.

There will be both a clown and a magician at the event. The clown does balloons and face painting. The Magician is world renown who recently returned from a European Tour. He also won first prize on America's Funniest People.

The event will have games as well.

Anyone who is a grandparent, aunt, uncle or sibling that cares for a child under the age of 12 is qualified for our program. Bradley Family Reunion

Descendants and friends of Wiley Jefferson Bradley (1851-1940), S.E.C. Stephenson and Emma Victoria Stephens (1873-1934) are invited to attend a family reunion at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Rutledge Community Center.

The reunion is held every year on the fourth Sunday in October.

Anyone planning to attend is asked to bring a covered dish and any old family photos or memorabilia.

Fall Festival

Chapel Hill Church's annual Fall Festival will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 in the church parking lot.

There will be door prizes given away, games with prizes and refreshments and food, including hot chocolate, hot dogs and hamburgers.

Local families are encouraged to attend.

Heart Walk Nearing

Crenshaw County is gearing up for its annual American Heart Walk. This year's Walk will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at E.L. Turner Park. Registration will begin at 5 p.m.

Crenshaw Community Hospital is the Presenting Sponsor for this year's event. The Company Leader/Team Captain Kickoff luncheon will be on Thursday, September 30, 2004. The kickoff will be held at the John D. Harrison Cultural Center. Graydon Reunion Cancelled

The annual Graydon reunion held the third Sunday in October at the Rutledge Community Center will not be held this year.

The reunion has been postponed until next year.

LBWCC offer computer classes

LBW Community College – MacArthur Campus will offer How to Use Your Personal Computer on from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for six weeks. Classes will be held in the Computer Science Department, Room G-1. The class will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and end on Thursday, Nov. 23.

How to Use Your Personal Computer is a beginner course that introduces users to the world of computing and computer applications. This hands-on course will cover Windows XP, Microsoft Word 2002, and the Internet. The Windows XP portion of the course will include: getting started with Windows XP; working with Programs, Files, and Folders; and maintaining your data. Microsoft Word 2002 training will include: getting started with Word 2002; editing and proofing documents; formatting a document; working with tables; formatting pages; adding graphics; and working with graphics. The Internet portion of the training will include: getting started with the World Wide Web; navigating the Web; Searching the Web; and exploring the Web.

The cost of the course is $85.00 per participant. Participants will be charged an additional fee for

Their textbook. Anyone interested in this course should register before Oct. 12.

Poinsettias Sale

The Luverne Rotary Club is beginning to take orders for it's annual poinsettia sell.

The poinsettias are available in red, white and pink and cost $9 each. Plants will be available for pick up Saturday, Dec. 4.

Proceeds from the sell of the plants will benefit the Crenshaw County Department of Human Resources' Operation Santa Clause as well as other charitable causes throughout the county.

Jr. Miss Tickets on sale

ACT deadline approaching

College-bound high school students can take the ACT Assessment on Oct. 23, 2004, the next national test date. The deadline for postmark registration is September 17. The late registration deadline is October 1 (an additional $15 fee is required for late registration). Students can get registration materials from their guidance counselor or they can register online at www.actstudent.org.

ACT scores are accepted by virtually all colleges in the nation, including all I League schools. The exam is administered in all 50 states. Students can find the closest testing location closest by searching on ACT's website.

Some students perform better on the ACT because it is based on achievement, not aptitude. The ACT exam includes four parts: English, reading, mathematics and science. It takes three hours to complete. The test fee is $28. Free sample tests are available from high school counselors and sample questions can be found on ACT's website, which also offers inexpensive practice tests.

Monthly Prayer Breakfast

The Mayors' Prayer Breakfast is held from 7 a.m. until 7:45 a.m. on the first Monday of every month at the John D. Harrison Cultural Center in Luverne.

Everyone is welcome to attend and pray for the government officials, churches, pastors, teachers and citizens of Crenshaw County.
