Youth Power Fest 2004 will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Oct. 16. All children, youth groups are invited to attend.

Spring Hill Baptist Church will hold its fall revival services Oct. 17 through 20. Regular services will be held Sunday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. with lunch and a singing following. The Rev. Randy Harvill will be the guest speaker during evening services Oct. 18 through 20 at 7 p.m.

The Butler County Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Butler County Board of Education office.

A NCNE Volunteer Day will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, in White Hall. The event will include a groundbreaking ceremony for a ten-acre community park, a used clothing and appliance give-away, as well as moving two families into new homes located in White Hall and Gordonville. Volunteers are needed to work as movers, provide trucks to carry the furniture, plant trees, flowers and shrubs, give away clothes, serve food, register volunteers, typing and so on. To register, call or come by the NCNE Community Resource Center no later than Oct. 18. Additional instructions will be provided at that time. The telephone number is 876-9889.

The Southeastern Bow Hunters Classic will be held at Sparta Academy in Evergreen Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $3 adults, $2 for students.
Brooks Assembly of God Church located six miles south of McKenzie off Highway 55 on Gorum Bridge Road will be having a Boston Butt sale. The price is $20. All proceeds from the sales will go to the new church building fund. The butts may be picked up from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Oct. 30.
The Coterie Club of Andalusia will hold its fourth annual Run for Kids on Saturday, Oct. 30. There will be three different races so that everyone can participate. There will be a 5k race that is for all ages. Meredith's Mile will be for children ages 5 to 16 and a Tot Trot for children ages 0-4. Awards will be given in each race. People interested in participating in this event can register the day of the race beginning at 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. or at Pepperoni Jack's on Oct. 29.
The City of Greenville will observe Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 30. Children will be aloud to trick-or-treat from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The siren will sound off to begin and end the allotted time.
Nov. 6
Due to Hurricane Ivan the Butler County Sheriff's Auxilary has extended their drawing for the gold replica coin to Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.
The Pike Road Arts & Crafts Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Marks House in Pike Road.
Nov. 13
The Miss Teen Trojan pageant, a Miss Teen Alabama America preliminary, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Troy
University. The pageant will be held in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.
Volunteers are needed to pack boxes for the Operation Christmas Child shoe box ministry at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center from Nov.15-20. Hours are 1-5 p.m. Mon. thru Fri. and 9 a.m. – noon Saturday. Strong workers and good-sized trucks are also needed to pack for shipment to Montgomery on Sun., Nov. 21. The Graydon family reunion that is normally held the third Sunday in October at the Rutledge Community Center is postponed this year.
Due to the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, all water bills will be estimated for the month of October. We fully expect to be able to read meters for the November billing and any necessary adjustments will be made at that time.
The Brooks Cemetery Fund is in critical need of donations. Anyone interested in making a tax deductible donation may contact Sam Baker or Gayle Sanford at 374-8103. Donations may also be sent to P.O. Box 21, McKenzie.
