Cougars pounce on IMS

The Crenshaw Christian Cougars traveled to Mobile Saturday afternoon to face off against area opponent Independent Methodist School. When the final buzzer sounded the Cougars had waltzed to a 53-0 verdict over the Crusaders.

Coach Roland Jones let all Cougars in on the action early and they responded to improve to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in Class A.

Bubba Faulk led the Cougar running assault with 181 yards on 16 totes and recorded three touchdowns. He also recorded four tackles and one assist.

Junior Shawn Nelson netted 53 yards on eight carries, scored one TD, and had a 1-2 card on defense and Andrew Armour rushed for 24 yards on seven carries with one TD, and was credited with five tackles and one assist from his noseguard slot. Sloan Carter notched two TD's and gained 23 yards on four carries to round out the Cougar scoring. He also had two solo stops from his linebacker slot.

Mason Pettus also recorded a tally on a 64 yard pass interception. He also recorded two assists from his safety position.

Quarterback Klein Jones connected on four of six tosses for 103 yards. On the receiving end were Mason Pettus with two grabs for 56 yards, Corey Walden with one catch for 33 yards, Caleub Mount with one catch for 11 yards and Foster Carpenter with one catch for three yards.

Leading the defensive surge was Corey Walden with five solos and four assists and Caleub Mount with five stops and two assists.

Also helping out were Justin Jordan, Andrew Griffin and Justin Penny with 4-1 slates each; Brandon Baines, Allen Sasser and Derek Manning with 2-1 cards, Brandon Polk with two tackles and Wallace Kelley, Foster Carpenter, Russell Pettis and Nick Atkinson with one stop apiece.

The Cougars will entertain Ashford Academy this Friday night for homecoming. The Senior Recognition will begin at 6:30 p m and kickoff will follow at 7:30 p.m.
