FEMA scheduled to leave on Friday

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has setup shop at the Tom Harbin Agriculture Center located at 816 Airport Road in Luverne.

But Crenshaw County residents shouldn't wait too long to apply for assistance because the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will close shop at 7 p.m. this Friday night.

FEMA representatives along with agents with various organizations such as the Internal Revenue Service, Unemployment, Aging Services and Mitigation are on hand to assist Crenshaw County natives apply for assistance following Hurricane Ivan's destruction.

Assistance may include temporary housing, repairs and personal property for individuals and households and low-interest loans to homeowners, renters and business owners.

The following information is needed when applying for assistance:

n Social Security number (including spouse)

n Address and zip code of the damaged property

n Directions to the damaged home or property

n Telephone numbers where you can be reached during the day

FEMA representatives in Mobile could not be reached for comment.
