The Family Guidance Center of Dothan held a training session at Meadowcrest Community room on Sept. 28.

Ms. Sandi Prestage. Childcare Specialist led the training. The topic for the training was communication and language development.

During the two-hour training, childcare providers discussed the importance of language in a child’s life. Activities such as singing songs, nursery rhymes and talking to babies help build the foundation they need.

The group also looked at the developmental stages children progress through from special language of infants to the sentences that three year olds use. The providers who attended also participated in several activities that help build language skills.

After all, in order to learn language one must hear language.

The Childcare providers in this area will meet again on Oct. l2 at Meadowcrest.
