Brantley, Luverne dominate

Friday nights in Crenshaw County continue to get more and more exciting.
Even at the midway point of the season, area teams continue to surprise their fans. Whether it is a dominating win or a nail biter, fans throughout the county continue to get their moneys worth from week-to-week.
Last week, Luverne captured a huge Class 2A, Region 3 victory over G.W. Long 37-6. The win was key in the Tigers' quest for the region title.
Brantley improved its record to a perfect 5-0 with a region win over Kinston. The Bulldogs were able to play every player on roster as they easily defeated the visiting Bulldogs, 46-7.
Highland Home and Crenshaw Christian Academy both suffered losses last week. The Flying Squadron was edged out by region foe Lanett 37-36 in an offensive battle. Autauga handed the Cougars a convincing 31-13 area loss.
After week five of the season, this prognosticator sports a 14-4 record following a 3-1 showing last week.
Tomorrow night, Luverne will be on the road as they travel to take on Beulah in another regional showdown. Marbury handed the Bobcats a 35-21 loss last Friday night.
Luverne overcame four turnovers, which led to all of Marbury's points, and 128 yards in penalties to squeak by the Bulldogs 28-19 in a regional battle the second week of the season.
Even though Luverne had troubles against Marbury, it shouldn't be an indication of what's to come against Beulah. The Tigers are more discipline and have begun playing more as a team in the last couple of games.
As long as the Tigers will stay focused during the trip and continue to eliminate mistakes, they should remain undefeated in the region.
Prestridge's Pick: Luverne.

Brantley will also be on the road this Friday night as they take on Florala in a Class 1A, Region 2 contest.
Florala handed out a 35-28 loss to Pleasant Home last Friday night, but will have an even harder time defeating Brantley.
The Bulldogs have given opponents fits this season with their explosive offense and tough defense. It shouldn't be any different tomorrow night.
Brantley should continue to jump out quick on its opponents and continue to quickly pad a lead. Staying ahead will be the key.
Prestridge's Pick: Brantley.

Highland Home is the only Crenshaw County School at home this Friday as the Squadron celebrates homecoming.
The Squadron will not only be looking to satisfy its fans with a homecoming victory, but also attempt to capture its second win of the year with a victory over Marbury, which defeated Beulah last week.
Highland Home has played two great halves this season, the first halves against Luverne and Brantley. That type of intensity will be needed to capture a huge region win and a homecoming victory.
Turnovers could be the difference in this ballgame.
Prestridge's Pick: Highland Home.

Crenshaw Christian will try to bounce back from its loss to Autauga with an area road win over IMS Saturday night in Mobile.
The Cougars will have to prevent turnovers and big plays in order to celebrate a win during the long drive back home. Scoring early will also be key.
Prestridge's Pick: CCA.
