Discarded boats help save lives

Has the wind gone out of your sails? Instead of letting your boat become a barnacle bucket, let it help save lives.

Don't pay to store your unwanted boat, donate it! The National Kidney Foundation of Alabama's Kidney Cars Program not only takes unwanted vehicles, but also boats, motorcycles and motor homes. Kidney Cars is a nationwide, year-round, fully licensed and insured program. Simply call 1-800-488-CARS and the Foundation will arrange a free pick-up for your used boat and then acknowledge your gift for possible tax deduction purposes. It may also be a convenient way to make a donation without having to come up with out-of-pocket funds. Donors must consult their tax adviser for details regarding their specific situation.

All proceeds raised by the Kidney Cars Program remain in the state where the donation was generated. With one phone call to 1-800-488-CARS your boat can become a life raft and help save Alabama residents suffering from kidney and urinary tract disease.

For more information or to donate your car, van, truck, RV or boat, call 1-800-488-CARS or donate online at www.kidney.org.
