Support Greenville Main Street#039;s GRITS Festival this fall

On Tuesday, volunteers with Main Street Greenville were seen about town passing out that tasty southern delicacy known as grits to area businesses.

You have to admit that this was a pretty smooth marketing move for Nancy Idland and her helpers.

As we noted a few weeks back, this year Greenville will not have the annual Watermelon Jubilee.

This leaves a void in what brings people to the area each year.

That is why we encourage everyone to mention the GRITS Festival to friends and family who do not live here.

When you visit other area festivals and see a particular vendor you think others would like, mention the GRITS festival to them as well.

Idland and her support group can do a lot on their own, but it takes a community to make something spectacular.

So it is up to us to see that we all do our part in getting the word out.

In prior years, Main Street's Oktoberfest was a great one day event.

This year, with changes planned for the layout and the fact that streets around the park will be closed, even more people can come and enjoy the fun.

And if you are a local vendor, then call Idland today and reserve your booth spot.
