Child killed in car wreck

Tragedy struck Butler County when a two-year-old child was killed in an early morning accident Friday.

State Troopers and Butler County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an accident on County Road 50, which resulted in the death of a two-year-old and injuries to a four-year-old.

&uot;We responded to an accident on County Road 50 about 6.3 miles East of Greenville,&uot; said Trooper Blake Turman. &uot;A two-year-old white male was killed and a 4-year-old white male is in stable condition.&uot;

&uot;The accident occurred around 6:45 this morning,&uot; said Turman. &uot;It was a one vehicle accident. They just lost control of the car and rolled several times.&uot;

Because the two were ejected from the car Turman believed seatbelts could have made a difference.

&uot;Seatbelts could have prevented this,&uot; said Turman. &uot;There were no seatbelts used and no child restraints.&uot;

He did not release the names of the children.
