Point’s race begins to heat up

Several changes occurred in the point’s standings following Saturday night’s races at the Butler County Motorsports Park.

&uot;We had a good weekend,&uot; BCMSP owner Bo Thagard said. &uot;It was hot, but other than that we had a pretty good night.&uot;

Randy Adams took over third spot in the hobby division point’s standings previously held by Brandon Hood following Saturday’s action.

The novice division underwent the most changes. Wayne Morris jumped two spots in the point’s race from fourth to second place following a victory Saturday night.

Chris Lewis fell from second spot in Novice points to fourth and Gerald Brown took over fifth position from Kenneth Harrison after a second-place finish.

Rodney Best claimed third place during Saturday night’s novice race.

&uot;We had pretty good racing in all classes,&uot; Thagard said. &uot;There wasn’t anything special, but some good races.&uot;

David Windham remained the leader in the hobby class with a win over Jimmy Thagard and Jack Daughtry.

Curt Ryals remained second in hobby points and Wayne Lee held on to fifth.

Dewey Boggan remained on top of the novice point’s standings and Jimmy Johnson stayed in third spot.

Todd Adams, Will Henderson, Wayne Cawley, Ben Callen and Ashley Johnson remained in the Top Five respectively in the rear-wheel HOGG division.

&uot;The point’s make the drivers race every Saturday night,&uot; Thagard said. &uot;If they’re racing for the points, to stay ahead you’ve got to be there every Saturday. That’s really the purpose of the point’s system.&uot;

Henderson captured the checkered flag in the rear-wheel HOGG division after out driving Todd Adams and Ben Callen.

In the front-wheel HOGG division, Kenny Weaver finished first followed by John Weaver III and Cody Weaver.

Gates open every Saturday night at 6 p.m. with practice sessions to follow. Races will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 and kids under 15-years old are free.
