Greenville High School's Freshmen Orientation Safari will be held Wednesday, July 28. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. in the auditorium. For more information, contact Jennifer Shell at 382-2608.

July 29

The admission and allocations meeting will be held Thursday, July 29, at 6 p.m. at Greenville City Hall. Anyone wanting to apply for funds must attend this meeting.

July 31

On Saturday, July 31, there will be a singing and supper at Bethel Baptist

Church on the McKenzie Grade Road, beginning at 6 p.m., featuring

Willie Stinson and In His Ways singers.

Everyone is invited to enjoy the singing and food.

A church singing will be held at Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 31. Featured artists will be J.G. Whitfield and the Workmen Quartet. The church is located on County Road 45.

August 1

Homecoming services will be held at Zion Rest A.M.E. Zion Church in Forest Home, Sunday, Aug. 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday school, morning worship at 11 a.m. and homecoming services at 2 p.m. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Anthony Hall of Birmingham.

Sardis Baptist Church will hold homecoming services Aug. 1 beginning with Sunday school at 9 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.

Antioch East Baptist Church will have homecoming services Aug. 1 at 10:45 a.m. followed by a dinner on the grounds. Revival services will be held at 6:30 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ted Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gurley will be the speaker. Danny Williams will lead the worship and praise services.

August 2

Pleasant Hill West Baptist Church will hold revival services Aug. 2 through 4 at 7 p.m. Monday night will feature Bro. Larry Gaston with music by the Brooks Baptist Church Choir. Tuesday will feature Bro Terry Heartsill with music by Jerry and Marie Brazwell. Wednesday night will have Bro John Knight with Don Faulk of Monroeville singing.

August 5

R. L. Austin Elementary School will hold Parent Orientation Thursday, August 5, for the 2004 – 05 school year at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. All parents of first time students and returning students are invited to attend.

August 8

Homecoming services will be held at Forest Home Baptist Church Sunday, Aug. 8. beginning at 11 a.m.

with a covered dish luncheon following. Revival services will be held Aug. 9-11 at 6:45 p.m. with Randy Harvill preaching and Steve Hines leading the music.

Ebenezer East Baptist Church will have homecoming services Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. followed by dinner. Gayla Shell Free will be singing. Revival services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Jim Free will be the speaker for both services.

August 12

It's time to register football players and cheerleaders

for the Georgiana City League. Registration begins Aug. 12 from 5 until 6 p.m. at the park on Hwy. 31. It is open for children ages 6 to 12. A birth certificate is required at sign-up.

August 13

Sweet Home Baptist Church in McKenzie will host a ladies get-together based on the Women of Faith Ministry, featuring Linda Blackburn as the keynote speaker. This event will be held Friday, August 13, beginning at 6 p.m. A salad meal is included in the program. There is no charge, but a ticket is required for registration. Please call 374-2560 for tickets.

August 14

Reid State Technical College will host a gospel music night Saturday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. Featured artists will be the Good News Quartet, Dyess Family and Robert Williamson.

August 15

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Georgiana will celebrate its 116th homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 15. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Henry Lyon III, retired from the State Board of Missions, will bring the message. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. There will be no Sunday school or evening services.

Ongoing Announcements

The child care program at Greenville High School in the Career Tech Department is accepting applicants for the 2004-05 year. Three and four-year-olds are welcomed. Academics, play and social skills are stressed as children are taught lessons based on a different theme each week. Two meals and a snack are provided each day. The program is run by Glinda Parmer, a certified Alabama teacher with a certified aide also present. Call 382-2608, ext. 5 for more information.
