Leutzinger memorial services set for Saturday in auditorium

Students, faculty, friends and family will remember the life of Greenville High School Senior Katie Leutzinger this Saturday.
According to her father, Randy, the memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. in the high school’s auditorium on Saturday, July 24.
Katie Leutzinger had just completed her junior year at the high school and would have been a senior this upcoming academic year.
Her father said the family is doing fine in light of the circumstances.
&uot;Our family is coming in and out and we’re doing fine,&uot; he said.
Dr. Kathy Murphy, principal at GHS, expressed her school’s sorrow over the senior’s death.
&uot;What a great loss it was to our school and community to lose one of our own,&uot; Murphy said. &uot;She was an outstanding student involved in many school activities including the Poetry Club, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, tennis team, and would have been editor of our school newspaper, The Tiger Journal, this year. Katie was active in Girls Scout and had earned the highest award as a senior Girl Scout.&uot;
Leutzinger’s father said one thing Katie wanted to establish and build was a Girl Scout Hut in the Camellia City.
The family is asking that donations be made in her name to the Girl Scouts or to the charity of one’s choosing.
Murphy said the school’s sympathy is with the family.
&uot;On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students at Greenville High School, I extend our deepest sympathy to the Leutzinger family,&uot; Murphy said.
Katie is survived by her parents, Randy and Cindy Leutzinger and her twin sister Shannon.
