Rain did stop the parade planned for Friday night, but the fireworks extravaganza went off without a hitch, much to the delight of those who braved the elements.

The events were sponsored by the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and Greenville Main Street.

Organizers worked throughout the day, but kept their eyes on the dark, stormy skies.

An early evening break in the weather sealed the decision to move forward and Greenville got to Celebrate America.
