Parents are the defensive line in keeping kids safe

With the advent of spring many students will be taking part in celebrations, from prom to graduation. At this time they may be more inclined to take part in illegal alcohol consumption.
For students, the issue isn’t the statutory limit on blood-alcohol content. It’s absolute sobrietynthe legal drinking age is 21.
Moreover, it’s about safety. Too many young lives are cut short needlessly by abuse of alcohol.
Sometimes, parents contribute to the problem by hosting a post-prom or graduation party where alcohol is made available.
Don’t. It sends the wrong message. It doesn’t protect anybody from anything.
In fact, it's illegal and is a felony under Alabama law.
At these key times, parents should work actively to teach their children the right lessons. At least, be careful; be diligent; be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
Keep kids safe and sober. Your kids. Other parents’ kids. Consider it your duty.
