&uot;We arrested Alphonso Crumpton, 48, and charged him with trafficking in cocaine, and unlawful possession of marijuana, first degree with intent to distribute,&uot; Mitchell said. &uot;Also arrested was John H. Davidson, 44, charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia for a crack pipe he had on his person.&uot;

Both suspects were transported to and booked into the Butler County Jail, where they remained until they were bonded out.

&uot;Crumpton’s bond was set at $40,000, and Davidson’s was set at $3,000,&uot; Mitchell said.

Mitchell said federal charges would be forthcoming in Crumpton’s case, due to the firearms, prescription medications and the trafficking charge.

Mitchell expressed his appreciation of the cooperation of others involved in the case.

&uot;We could not have done this successfully without the assistance of the community, and of Chief James Blackmon and the Georgiana Police Department,&uot; Mitchell said. &uot;Anytime citizens have any knowledge of illegal drug activity, we need them to call us at 335-3731, or call their local police department of E-911.&uot;
