Summer is here. Although the calendar hasn't proclaimed it yet, you can't tell that to the youngsters enjoying the cool waters during the YMCA's pool opening day last Friday.

Several area children swam and played in the facility's 350,000-gallon swimming pool and said they look forward to a summer filled with swimming and sunshine.

YMCA director Amanda Phillips said the pool will be open Mondays Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for members only, and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 open swim for the public. On Saturday the pool will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for members only, and to the public from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m.
