Through teamwork we can succeed

There is nothing better than teamwork. Ask any coach and he'll tell you that teamwork is critical for the success of any sports group and for the survival of his career.

Ask any successful businessman, and he will tell you he became successful with teamwork.

It's true – team members and coaches alike must work in tandem to make a sports program succeed. Businesses thrive when dependable people interact with each other to sell a product.

And as much as it is true for businesses and sports teams, it is even truer for our civic and governmental leaders as they try to create success for the city of Greenville.

In a recent display of incredible teamwork, Greenville City officials and employees, Butler County officials and employees, the W.O. Parmer Parent Teacher Organization, and Butler County School Board employees pitched in to accomplish the task of building a decent parking lot for the teachers of W.O. Parmer.

The teachers' vehicles previously had been relegated to a dirt-covered lot that was pock-marked with holes and drainage washes.

It is extremely encouraging to witness this event, as it truly exemplifies the spirit of teamwork that exists among our trusted leaders and civic organizations.

Anytime these organizations can come together to solve a problem, not only the schools but the entire community benefits.

Our hats are off to all of those hard-working members of the "parking lot" team.

Because of their willingness to pull together their resources to solve a common problem, they are setting a great example for the rest of us to follow.
