Cracker Barrel launched its Christmas line of goods that are available for purchase in its retail gift shop during its annual open house party, Monday, November 11. The party was held in two sessions, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Cracker Barrel employees offered samples of Cracker Barrel foodstuffs to guests for their enjoyment while they browsed the shop. Each sample was selected from products available for purchase in the shop.

The festivities during the event included live music performed by Tara Simmons, Holly Mathews, Sarah Sims and Candice Nichols. Their selections ranged from holiday to patriotic selections, sung by the fireside in the main dining room.

Four door prizes were awarded to patrons who registered in the gift shop. The prizes were a deluxe breakfast gift basket, $10 gift card, snowman lamp and a 22-ounce Yankee Candle. Catherine Elmoe of Greenville won the Yankee candle. The other door prizes were given to out-of-town guests.

Retail Manager Mary Parker said the open house drew about 400 guests for the day session and 200 for the night session.

"The open house went over really well, and everyone really seemed to enjoy it," Parker said. "It's our way to start off the holiday season."

Parker said the event has a good local appeal, about 50 percent of the attendees were local residents.

Parker added that the event over so well, they are planning another event in December. Details will be coming soon.
