The Conecuh County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) recently offered helicopter assistance to area counties, including Butler County.

Conecuh County officials came to Greenville on the new copter last Friday to let Butler County officials know they are available to assist with investigations and emergency situations when needed.

The CCSO, Aviation Division, is now available to assist with emergencies such as serious felonies: murder, robbery and escape; missing persons cases; search and rescue; aerial surveillance (depending on circumstances) and other emergencies which may arise.

Non-emergency circumstances to which the aviation division will offer assistance that include counterdrug eradication, aerial photography, aerial reconnaissance, aerial tactical search warrant coverage, demonstrations and other problems which may arise.

Conecuh County officials report that the intent of the division is to be available for emergency missions upon request. In non-emergency situations, other law enforcement agencies should request missions on weekends and two-to-three days in advance of the prospective mission.

Agencies interested in requesting assistance should contact the Conecuh County Sheriff's Office at (251) 578-1260. For non-emergency missions, agency officials must complete paperwork which is available by contacting the Conecuh office.
