Varsity Eagles fall to Hooper; Ladies earn victory, 5-4

The Fort Dale Eagles baseball team was defeated by Hooper Academy Thursday, as they fell 10-7 in the final innings of the game.

Clint Philpot was the top hitter for FDA going 3-for-5 with a double, one run scored and two RBIs. Philpot also pitched eight innings and gave up ten earned runs and one walk. He chalked up six strike-outs for the Eagles.

The Hooper Colts were able to earn ten runs on 16 hits and one error.

The Eagles will host Greenville Academy Tuesday with gameplay beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Hooper Lady Colts 5-4 in a very exciting back-and-forth battle.

The Lady Eagles were last to bat and with two on, Amanda Loftin launched a single and Kristen Mullins came in to score the winning run for Fort Dale.

Loftin pitched the entire game and gave up eight hits, walked only two batters and earned one strike-out.

Leading batters for the Ladies included Frances Watts, who went 4-4; Stephanie Towns, 2-4; and Hope Gibson, 2-4.

The Lady Eagles will host the Greenville Academy Lady Nados Tuesday with gameplay beginning at 3:30 p.m.
