Local men arrested in prostitution bust

Montgomery Police Officers conducted a prostitution sting March 23 that brought about a total of 23 arrests, with four of the subjects from Greenville.

Johnny Malisham, 24; John McGough, 45; Ronald Wayne Newton, 46 and Henry L. Schofield, 40, were all arrested for soliciting prostitution during the sting.

According to Sgt. Huey Thornton, Montgomery Police Department media relations officer, seven female officers were placed under cover posing as prostitutes in the area of Mobile Highway and Rosa Parks Avenue. After individuals offered to exchange money for sex, they were arrested by narcotics agents and placed in the Montgomery City Jail.

A total of 23 arrests were made. Twenty of those subjects will now face charges of soliciting prostitution while three will face charges of prostitution. According to Thornton, solicitation of prostitution is a class "c" misdemeanor.

All subjects are out on bond from the Montgomery City Jail.
