The town of McKenzie was recently approved for a grant for a brand new police cruiser that they received March 2.

McKenzie Mayor Betty Stinson said this was the third time the town had applied for the grant and she is very appreciative to all those involved in helping get the grant. She said she feels that the town really needed the new car and she is thankful for the ADECA grant.

"We are very appreciative of the grant because we needed the car desperately," Stinson said.

The mayor said she is especially appreciative of the help from Georgiana Police Chief James Blackmon, McKenzie Chief Clint Reaves and McKenzie City Clerk Tina Pate for their efforts in receiving the grant.

"Chief Blackmon has been really helpful with these grants," Stinson said.

She said it's important for towns and cities applying for grants to be diligent and not give up on their efforts.

"Don't ever give up," Stinson said. "You may give out, but don't ever give up."
