Homicide investigation continues

The investigation continues into a homicide that occurred on Highway 31 sometime during the night Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

William Parmer Creech, 72, of Greenville was found dead Tuesday morning at his residence and the cause of death has been determined as gunshot wounds.

According to Butler County Chief Deputy Kenny Harden, the incident is still under investigation and law enforcement officials have no leads or suspects in the case.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office is working with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Alabama Department of Forensics to find information that could lead to an arrest in the murder. Butler County law enforcement officials met with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Thursday morning to discuss the case.

Harden said the Sheriff's Office is also talking to individuals and attempting to gain information from those who may know something about the incident. "We have been talking to several people to try and gain information about this case," he said.

Harden said that the homicide is still under investigation and Butler County law enforcement officials will continue to work toward finding leads and suspects in the case.
