Greenville area man arrested in shooting

A Greenville man was placed under arrest Saturday night at the Butler County Sheriff's Office for assault, first degree, in a shooting that occurred Jan. 20.
James Powell, 28, was arrested after an investigation into the shooting by Butler County law enforcement officials.
The shooting occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Highway 31 when the suspect supposedly fired into the vehicle in front of his and shot 29-year-old Timothy Jones of Calhoun, Ala., in the shoulder.
Jones was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital where he received treatment for the gunshot wound.
According to Butler County Chief Deputy, the back windshield of the victim's car was shot out and bullet holes were found in the trunk of the vehicle.
Harden said the suspect posted bond and is now out of jail awaiting a court date.
