On Monday, Dec. 3, Sen. Wendell Mitchell visited Greenville Elementary School to present Principal Joseph West with a $2,500 check that will be used to help purchase new flat top desks for students.

"Sen. Mitchell has been a great supporter of Greenville Elementary School," said West. "Last year, he funded our multiplication/Pizza Hut trip winners from the fourth grade, and we are still using that money. We are in the process of buying new and more modern student desks, and we are very grateful for this donation from Senator Mitchell."

"We truly appreciate Sen. Mitchell's concern and dedication to education," said Kathy Robertson, third grade teacher at Greenville Elementary. "I do a lot of cooperative groups, literature circles and art work, and our old slanted, broken down desks just don't lend themselves to these kinds of activities. The flat topped desks will be wonderful."
