Greenville gymnasts compete in meets

Gymtiger Gymnastics of Auburn hosted its fifth annual Tumble in the Jungle invitational November 3-4.

Greenville Gymnastics competitors were 9-year-old level 4 gymnast Abbey Martin from Ft. Deposit, 10-year-old level 4 gymnast Rebecca Foster of Ft. Deposit, 12-year-old level 5 gymnast Suzanne Smyth of Luverne, 11-year-old level 6 gymnast Kelsie Moody of Luverne and 12-year-old level six gymnast Andrea Sport of Brantley.

Other gyms competing included Armory Gymnastics and Montgomery Gymnastics Club of Montgomery, Prattville YMCA, Cullman Gymnastics, SEAGA Gymnastics and Southern Stars of Dothan, Shoals School of Gymnastics, Steel City Gymnastics and Mardis Gymnastics. Out-of-state gymnasts included Gwinnett Gymnastics Academy and Cairo Gymnastics of Georgia. A total of 220 gymnasts competed in the event.

In session 2, Abbey Martin made an all-around score of 31.875 putting her in 12th place. Rebecca Foster placed fourth on bars with a score of 8.85. Her all-around score was 34.125 placing her seventh.

Suzanne Smyth competed in the third session of the weekend. Her all-around score of 33.175 placed her 8th in the 11-and-up age group.

Greenville's level 6 gymnasts Kelsie Moody and Andrea Sport competed in the fourth session of the weekend. Kelsie placed third on vault with a score of 8.55, fifth on bars with a 7.55 and sixth in the all-around with a 31.05.

Andrea placed third on balance beam with an 8.025, first on floor with a 9.05 and third in the all-around with a score of 33.275.

Greenville Gymnastics traveled to Birmingham November 10 for the Veteran's Day Invitational at the Joal Inmans Gymnastics Academy.

Participating gymnasts were Bama Bounders and Tuscaloosa Tumbling Tide from Tuscaloosa, Southern Stars Gymnastics from Dothan, Montgomery Gymnastics Club, Enterprise Aerials and JFJ Gymnastics and JIGA from Birmingham. A total of 116 gymnasts, levels 4-6 competed in the meet.

In the first session containing level 4 gymnasts, Abbey Martin placed 10th on vault with a score of 9.150. Abbey also placed 12th on floor with an 8.35. She had a high all-around score of 32.95 with this being her first competition of the season.

Rebecca Foster placed 5th on bars with an 8.75, 5th on balance beam with an 8.45, 7th on floor with an 8.75 and 6th in the all-around with a score of 34.95.

Level 5 gymnasts competing for Greenville Gymnastics were 11-year-old Elizabeth McCauley and 12-year-old Suzanne Smyth. Elizabeth placed 5th on uneven bars with a score of 8.55, 6th on balance beam with a 7.75 and 5th in the all around with a score of 33.625. Suzanne placed 4th on bars with a score of 8.80, 2nd on balance beam with a 9.00, 5th on floor with an 8.70 and 3rd in the all-around with a score of 34.95.

Level 6 competitors were Kelsie Moody and Andrea Sport. Kelsie placed 3rd on vault with a score of 8.70, 4th on uneven bars with an 8.5, 6th on floor with an 8.475 and 5th all-around with a score of 33.025. Andrea had a first place score of 9.125 on vault, 3rd on bars with an 8.825, 5th on balance beam with a 7.65, 4th on floor with an 8.50 and 4th all-around with a score of 34.10.

Greenville Gymnastics will travel to Armory Gymnastics November 18 for the Local Yolkol Meet.
