The Greenville Area YMCA recently sponsored a football clinic, taught by both coaches and players from Greenville High School, and the net proceeds were donated to the Athletic Club.
All schools in the Greenville and Georgiana communities participated in the clinic, held at Tiger Stadium, sending approximately 40 players to take part.
Alvin Briggs, head coach at Greenville High School, said he would like to see more of this kind of program.
"The interaction between the high school players from all schools was great n I would love to see more of it," Briggs said. "Anytime my players can take part in something that benefits the community, I want them to be involved."
Amanda Phillips, office manager at the YMCA, said everyone participating had a great time.
"The YMCA saw such a good response from the participants, both in public and private schools that we are looking forward to sponsoring more of these types of clinics in the future," Phillips said. "We also were able to raise $200, which we donated to the Greenville High School Athletic Club for the purchase of a TV set for the team to watch video playbacks on."
