A 39-year-old unemployed Greenville man Friday was arrested after allegedly snatching cash from a victim at McBride's Chevron, according to reports on file at the Greenville Police Department.

Following an incident Friday that reportedly occurred around 8 p.m., officers arrested Leroy "Bo" Jones, 39 of West Commerce Street, charged him with theft of property, first degree.

The victim in the complaint report stated Jones "snatched" $5 from her hand, and walked away, while cursing at her.

Officers made contact with Jones within 10 minutes, and after the subject argued with the officers and tried to walk away, he was arrested for the charge of theft of property, first degree and disorderly conduct.

A spokesman for the Greenville Police Department explained that the reason Jones was arrested for a Class B felony charge of theft, first degree was the manner in which he allegedly took the property.

"The fact that Jones reportedly snatched' the money from the victim's hand made the charge a felony, instead of a misdemeanor charge of theft, third degree," the spokesman said.

Jones was booked in the Butler County jail for the listed charges, and has since been released on a $10,000 property bond.
