Few golfers can say they have made a hole-in-one after playing all their lives, but one Greenville lad who practically grew up on Cambrian Ridge can say just that.

Meet Josh Hendrick, age 15.

The young man has been playing golf since he was eight years old, and the majority of the time, played on the Cambrian Ridge link of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. During a recent outing with his father Larry, a Greenville businessman, Josh accomplished what most only dream their whole life of doing.

"We were playing in the 'father and son' tournament here at Cambrian Ridge," said the elder Hendrick. "Josh hit that hole-in-one on the Sherling two, and would not even walk up to the green to see the ball in the cup until he had a witness there with him."

"I used a 'Taylor-made' seven-iron on the par-3 hole," said Josh Hendrick. "The pin was in the far hole, so they (club officials) estimated the shot to be 151-yards from the tee to the cup."

Course Director and Head Golf Professional Sean Curry said the young man has made a remarkable milestone.

"A hole-in-one is a great feat - I've been playing for 20 years, and I have never made one," Curry said.

Hendrick, who plays a 16 handicap, hopes to be able to get a golf scholarship for college, and told Curry with a smile that when he finished his schooling for golf management, he would be vying for Curry's job.

Curry presented Hendrick with a commemorative plaque to mark his achievement, beside the pin of the hole the young golf enthusiast aced.
