Dixie Minors end season, all-stars announced

The Dixie Minor League, following game play on Friday night, ended its regular season, announced award winners, and also the all-stars team for 2001.
"We presented eight awards for the most valuable player (MVP) and also the sportsmanship award,' said Jerome Harris, director of the Greenville Parks and Recreation Department.
MVP Awards were presented to Sherod Bell for the Blue Jays, Jeremy Fields for the Braves, Dustin Till for the Cardinals and there was a tie on the Cubs, with awards going to both Kendall Gibson and Steve Lee.
The Sportsmanship Awards were presented to Joshua Smith for the Blue Jays, Cooper Lewis for the Braves, Demarcus Robinson for the Cardinals and Caleb Glass for the Cubs.
"We wish to congratulate each recipient, for jobs well done," Harris said. "We are also announcing the players that have been selected for the Greenville Dixie Minors All-stars Team, which will compete in the AAA Division, District VI All-star Tournament."
From the Blue Jays, Demetrius Sherod Bell; from the Cardinals, Thomas Hess Bender, Aaron Ward Callen, Jeffrey Lake Hutcheson, Bill Jones III, Brantley James McKeown, Demarcus Cardell Robinson and Dustin Allen Till; from the Cubs, Kevin Grantt Brogden, Richard Kendall Gibson Jr., Gary Caleb Glass, Sanders Daniel Hancock and Steven Forest Lee Jr.
The coaching staff will consist of George Till and Jeff Hutcheson from the Cardinals, and Steve Lee from the Cubs.
