Stacey Killingsworth recently joined the staff of Greenville Newspapers as managing editor.

"The addition of a managing editor to the staff is part of our continuing efforts to bring the best coverage of Greenville and Butler County to the residents of the area," said Eric Bishop, publisher of The Greenville Advocate and president of Greenville Newspapers.

Killingsworth is a native of Daphne, Ala., and earned her master's degree in Corporate and Public Communication from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Through the course of both her undergraduate and graduate studies, her concentration in the field of communication focused on journalism and media law.

Prior to moving to Greenville, Killingsworth served as editor of The Islander in Gulf Shores, Ala. "The most wonderful thing about working for a community newspaper is that it has the ability to bring the people of a community closer together. Every person in every town has a story and I think it is important for a community to know its neighbors," said Killingsworth.

In her spare time, Killingsworth enjoys traveling, hiking, canoeing and spending time with her dog Clementine.
