Here's a great way to celebrate Mom's special day early, courtesy of two local church congregations. Members of the Women's Missionary Unions of Southside Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist are coming together to sponsor an area-wide "Ladies Night Out" to be held on Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at the Southside's Fellowship Hall.

"We are putting special emphasis on moms that night," explains Ann Bearden, one of the organizers for the event, to which all mothers are encouraged to bring their daughters (ages eight and up).

"We also want those ladies who don't have children, or whose mother has passed away or lives away, to feel free to adopt' a mom or a daughter for the evening," Bearden comments.

The organizers promise ladies of all ages attending "an enjoyable evening full of entertainment, food, fellowship and inspiration."

A special essay contest will be held in conjunction with the event. In 250 words or less, each entrant should tell why their mom is so special to them.

"The winner of this contest will receive two 8 X 10 color portraits courtesy of Stephenson's Photography of Greenville," says Bearden.

Tickets will be $4 per person and should be purchased no later than May 2 if possible.
