Paving project nearing completion

Repaving work on Oglesby and South Park streets should be complete this week, according to Mayor Dexter McLendon.

"Oglesby and South Park are the streets that had to be milled," said McLendon. "If the weather cooperates it shouldn't take more than another couple of days to wrap up that project."

The paving project covered 21 Greenville streets and the YMCA parking lot including.

Streets already completed include: Chaudron, Perine, Flowers, Merrimac, Grayson, Parker, Walnut, Dunbar, Parmer, Boswell, Burnett, Forest (Drive), Woodvalley (Circle), Gamble, Hillcrest, Oak, Sunset (Drive), Valley (Drive) and Water.

The council authorized two change orders relating to the project at the Monday council meeting.

The council also approved a retail beer off-premise license for William Ronald Newton, dba Max Mart South.

The council amended the code of ordinances, emergency services, to coincide with the new Medicare guidelines for advanced life support levels.

A budget session was scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
