Lady Eagles stumble then rise up

The Lady Eagles from Fort Dale traveled to Montgomery on Saturday, and played against Faith Academy, coming home defeated by 20 points, with the final score 59-39.

The girls of Faith came on strong from the start, scoring 16 points to the seven points of the Lady Eagles.

Going into halftime, FDA added nine points to 21 more on the part of Faith, to make the two period score 37-16 Faith.

In the third period, the Lady Eagles attempted to catch up, making 10 points, to Faith's 13 and the score after three was 47-29 Faith.

In the last period, the Lady Eagles managed 20 points to the 12 of Faith, making the final score Faith 59, Fort Dale 39.

Brandi Hicks led the scoring for the Lady Eagles, with 12 points, including a three-pointer. Heather Wyatt was next, scoring eight points and then it was Marcey Adams with six points to her credit. Laura Gipson went three for four on free throws.

Next, on Tuesday night, the Lady Eagles hosted the Lady Senators from Morgan Academy, and defeated them, with a final score of 39-31.

It was clear in the first period that FDA meant business, as they scored 17 points to the 11 of Morgan.

Then, in the second, they scored six, and allowed Morgan to get 10 points, making the score at the half FDA 23, Morgan 21.

Coming back in the third, the Lady Eagles stayed just ahead for the period, making 12 points to the 10 of the Lady Senators.

It was a period shut-out in the fourth, as FDA made four points, but blocked any more scoring from Morgan, making the final score Fort Dale 39, Morgan 31.

Ashley Paulk led the scoring for FDA, with 12 points in four three-pointers. Next it was Leslie Smith with 11 points, and Marcey Adams with six.

The Lady Eagles will host Taylor Road Academy on Friday night.
