When Saturday morning rolls along, most will still be involved in a dream, either the first or second for the night, but the G.A. Tornados will be weighing-in at 7 a.m.
Greenville Academy is going to be the place, and the attraction the largest wrestling tournament besides the State Championship.
The Tornados, under the expert guidance of Coaches Jeffrey Atkins, Justin Thomas and Floyd Atkins, will be hosting the seven other teams in the AISA conference, in a round-robin-styled tournament not unlike that which will take place on January 27, at Hooper Academy.
The other teams that are scheduled to compete are Bessemer Academy, Hooper Academy, Glenwood Academy, Edgewood Academy, Marion Military Institute, Macon-East Academy and Meadowview Academy.
During the last tournament, held at G.A. on Dec. 9, Bessemer did not give G.A. the courtesy of a telephone call to say that they would not be at the tournament.
"Bessemer apparently had some problems with not having a coach," said Coach Floyd Atkins. "It is just a shame that they didn't call us in time-we could have arranged for another school, such as Pensacola Christian Academy to attend."
"The Team shows a lot of promise this year," said Head Coach Jeffrey Atkins. "I feel really good about the way they have been wrestling this year, and I think that this will be a good way to prepare for the State Championship at the end of the month."
